Alliance: Quantum/Galaxy Touch

Alliance: Quantum/Galaxy Touch

This installation note covers Alliance's touch washers and dryers (Quantum Touch for Speed-Queen, Galaxy Touch for Huebsch).
The reader uses serial communication with these machines.

Currently, vend price configuration is done through the machine's setting - not through Laundroworks (Laundro Portal).

Installation

  1. Turn machine power OFF!

  2. Set the Machine Type and Machine Number using the DIP switches on the back of the card reader:

See DIP switch settings article for more info on how to setup the dip switches.
Before proceeding, you should assign numbers to each of the machines in the laundry room/building using the reader's Dip Switches on the back of the reader.

  3. Remove coin-drop, if present

  4. Connect the signal connector to the Front-End control board

  5. Connect the power connection to get power to the card reader

Option 1: 12Vdc plug on the washer/dryer Front-end control board

    Option 2: 24Vac transformer
Connect the 2-wire power connector to the 24Vac transformer inside the machine

    Examples below:

  6. Mount the reader (see section below)

  7. Power on the machine

  8. Set the machine for serial communication (Card Mode) using the touch screen on the machine.

This is done through the Machine's System Menu on the touchscreen control. Before you can get into menu however, in case of washers, ensure that top lid is open. In case of dryers,  you will need to disconnect the white connectors:

To get into the System Menu, press and hold the top of the screen where you see the horizontal line. Once in the menu, follow the pro

Turn on the Card Reader and go down until you see Serial Payment System:

Once you've confirmed that both the Card Reader setting and Serial Payment System are both enabled, exit the machine settings menu, and save the changes, then power cycle the machine.

Configure Top-Off

If your Full Cycle time and price is the same thing as Topoff time and price (i.e same cost to Start dryer as to add time), then set the Top-Off Status setting to Full Cycle Only

Mounting

If you're installing readers on coin-op washers/dryers, the reader should mount against the existing coin-drop plate. You will need to drill a couple of small holes for the threaded-studs on the card reader's mounting plate. The cable harness should fit through the existing slot for the coin drop.

Pricing

Unlike for non-Touch models, vend pricing for touch models is set through the machine or Alliance network software.
