Gen4 washers

Gen4 washers

This installation note covers the old Gen4 washers, such as W184. These washers use mechanical timers. The reader kit comes with a High Voltage Relay to control this timer. The reader is powered by a separate AC-DC power supply adapter (provided with the kit). The kit also contains a High Voltage sensor to determine whether the door is open or closed.

Parts

  • Reader
  • High Voltage Relay (to start the Mechanical timer)
  • High Voltage Sensor box (to determine the whether door is open or closed)
  • Cable harness
  • 12V Power supply adapter

Installation

  1. Before proceeding, you should assign numbers to each of the machines in the laundry room.

  2. Set the machine type and number using the DIP switch on the reader's circuit board:

See DIP switch settings page to understand how to configure DIP switch positions to set the machine type (washer or dryer) and number.

  3. Turn machine power OFF!

  4. Remove the coin drop

  5. Start signal
Locate the connector shown below. Splice the two red output wires from the relay to the yellow and red wires on this connector (colors might vary between different machines so pay attention to the position on the connector):

  6. High Voltage Sensor
Connect the High Voltage sensor wires.

  7. Connect the AC side of the supplied power adapter to the machine. Unless you have an outlet directly behind the machine, you will need to cut-off the AC prong and expose the Hot and Neutral wires, which you will need to connect to the Hot and Neutral inside the machine.

  8. Mount the reader to where the coin-drop would normally go

  9. Activate the card reader with the store's Activation Card:
