Laundrylux - Hero Dryers

Laundrylux - Hero Dryers

This installation note covers single and stack Hero Dryers. The reader uses pulse control; emulating a coin drop.

Parts

  • Reader (with Generic Relay board - ASSY-02-02-11)

  • Cable harness (part #: 02-06-49)

Installation

  1. Before proceeding, you should assign numbers to each of the machines in the laundry room/building.
It is highly recommended that you place number labels on each washer and dryer machine.

  2. Set the DIP switch to number the reader.
    See our
Reader DIP Switch settings article for more info

  3. Power Connection
Connect the small 2-pin connector to the mating connector for power

  4. Signal Connection (this step will differ based on if this is a Card Only install, or a Hybrid Coin+Card install):

    For Card Only Install
In this setup, the card reader is emulating a coin drop, so we'll be using the exact same Coin 1 input wires that the coin drop is currently using.

You'll be splicing the reader's White wire into the white wire from the coin-drop (you'll be removing the coin drop entirely, so you're actually splicing the white wire to the same Coin 1 input wire that the coin drop's white wire was connecting to originally).
Splice the reader's Green wire into the green wire from the coin-drop (the coin drop is being removed, so you're splicing this wire to the Coin 1 input wire that the coin drop's Green wire was connecting to originally).

You will likely need to cut the White/Green reader wires, out from the unused 7-pin connector, in order to splice them into the machine's input wires directly.

    For Hybrid (Coin+Card) Installs
This setup is basically the exact same as the Card Oly installs except, because the coin drop is remaining and will likely already be using Coin 1's machine input, you'll instead be splicing the reader signal wires into Coin 2's input harness:

You'll be splicing the White wire from the reader cable harness, to the Coin 2 input wire that would be connecting to the white wire from the coin-drop (The machine's Coin1 and Coin2 input connectors are the same, so if you're unsure which Coin2 input wire would be connecting to the white coin drop wire, plug the coin-drop connector into Coin2's input temporarily, to see which PIN the coin-drop's white wire connects to, as this will let you know which Coin2 input wire to splice into).
Splice the Green wire from the reader's harness, into the Coin 2 input wire that would be connecting to the green wire from the coin-drop.

  5. Proceed to secure the reader to the machine

  6. Activate the card reader with the Store's Activation Card:

  7. Configure the machine settings so the machine start's from the 1 Pulse it gets from the Card Reader

These card readers are emulating a coin being inserted into the machine, so when a laundry card is tapped to the reader, the card reader ONLY SENDS 1 PULSE to the machine to trigger it to start.
For Card Only installs, Coin 1's input is set to $0.25 by default, to work with the coin drop correctly.
For Hybrid Installs, Coin 2's input may be set to $0.25, or $1 by default.

Which ever Coin input you have connected the card reader to, you'll need to go into the machine's programming menu, and change the Value of that Coin Input to equal the full Vend Price of the machine.
This will ensure that 1 tap of a laundry card satisfies the full vend price of the machine so it starts from 1 tap of a card.
    Notes
    Note: For Hybrid installs
Be sure you are ONLY changing the coin value of the Coin input that the card reader is connected to.
You want the Coin input that the coin drop is connected to, to remain at $0.25, so quarters only take off $0.25 from the machine's vend price

If you try to pay for the machine, and the price goes down, but doesn't go all the way to zero (maybe only $0.25, or $1 is being deducted from the vend price being displayed on the machine), then you'll know the Coin Value setting is not set correctly, as it needs to equal the machine's full vend price.

Vend Pricing

Set the pricing of the card reader (this is what customers will pay when they tap their laundry card) using the LaundroPortal.

The price that gets displayed on the machine is separate from the card reader, and does NOT affect how much the card reader charges laundry cards.
