ADC: All dryers

ADC: All dryers

This installation article applies to Phase 5 and Phase 7 ADC controls.

Parts

  • Card Reader (card reader board MUST be a Generic Relay board - Part #: ASSY-02-02-11)

  • Reader Wiring Harness (Phase 5 cable harness is different from Phase 7 cable harness)

    Phase 5
    Wiring Harness (Part #: 02-06-93)

    Phase 7
    Wiring Harness (Part #: 02-06-42)

  • External Power Supply for card reader (for Phase 5 controls only)

Installation

  1. Before proceeding, you should assign numbers to each of the machines in the laundry room/building. It is highly recommended that you place labels on each machine.

  2. Set the machine type and number using the DIP switch on the reader circuit board:

    See DIP switch settings page to understand how to configure DIP switch positions to set the machine type (washer or dryer) and number.
  3. Turn machine power OFF!

  4. Remove the coin-drop

  5. Connecting Reader Signal Wires

    If the dryer has a Phase 7 control board (with the white headers) shown below;
    plug the two mating connectors of the provided cable harness into the connectors shown in red (one is power, one is coin signal)

    If the dryer has a Phase 5 control board (with the red header shown below);
    just plug the mating connector into it and connect the provided power supply adapter accordingly

  6. Connecting Reader Power Wires (Phase 5 Control - External Power Supply)

    Connect the 120Vac side of the power supply, either to an available wall outlet, or splice the power supply directly to the machine, using an appropriate high-voltage connection inside the machine.

    When connecting to the machine directly, you'll be cutting off the AC prong, and splicing these wires directly to the machine (we recommend consulting the manufacturer, or an electrician, to confirm this type of connection).

  7. Mount the reader. You may need to drill a couple of holes depending on the machine

  8. Activate the reader with the provided Activation Card:

Vend Pricing

Set on the Portal, see: Configuring Vend Prices

Note that the reader just sends 1 pulse to the machine after charging the vend price to the laundry card.
The amount of time added to the machine needs to be set on the machine itself (the reader cannot control how much time is added to the machine, but you do need to tell the reader how much time the machine adds).
