Speed-Queen SCxxB washers (B-micro)

This installation covers Speed-Queen/Huebsch washers with B-micro controls. 




Parts

  • Reader

Installation (Card-only)

  1. Before proceeding, you should assign numbers to each of the machines in the laundry room/building. It is highly recommended that you place number labels on each washer and dryer machine.
    Set the machine type and number using the DIP switch on the back of the card reader.

    See DIP switch settings page for more info.

  2. Turn machine power OFF!

  3. Remove coin drop

  4. Locate the square Molex connector and connect it to the mating connector on the provided cable harness



  5. AlertIMPORTANT (2-pin connector): Locate the big white connector (J22) on the machine's computer board. Note that first two wires (1 and 2) go to a 2-pin Molex connector. This 2-pin connector MUST be plugged into the mating 2-pin connector coming off of the square Molex connector from the previous step. If the mating 2-pin connect is currently occupied, you will need to disconnect it from whatever connection it's making, and connect it to this 2-pin connector. This is often the case when converting from other card systems. 




    In other words, the start relay on the reader-side ultimately needs to connect to J22-2-1 and J22-2-2:



    If this square connector is not present in the machine, then use the Alternate Installation method discussed below

  6. Splice the AC-side of the 12V power adapter to the power terminal block (110V or 220Vac).

  7. Connect DC jack from the 12V supply to main reader harness

  8. Secure the reader to the machine, power up the machine, and activate the reader using the Activation Card:


  9. Go into the machine's configuration menu and set 1PR and CARD mode:

Alternate Installation (including for Hybrid coin+card)


This method uses a connection to the Coin1 or Coin2 interface of the washer to send a pulse to trigger payment.
This method is usually used for Hybrid (Coin + Card) installations, but is also on B-micro machines that do NOT have those 2 settings to enable (1 PR & CArd).
If the above Card mode settings are not available, then you must use this method to connect the signal wires to the coin input, and the Card Reader's Control type will need to be changed in order to work in this configuration method.


1. Splice the Green and White wires from the reader cable harness across Coin1 and +5V:


2. Splice the AC-side of the 12V power adapter to the power terminal block (110V or 220Vac).
3. Connect DC jack from the 12V supply to main reader harness
4. the Control Type on the reader to should be a normally closed type (typically [04]) 

The Yellow and Black wires on the reader harness are not used at all in this configuration, and should be disconnected from the machine entirely (if they are present on the reader harness you received).

Reader takes the money, but machine won't start
Ensure that the 2-pin connector, as per above instructions, is connected. 

And especially if you're converting from coin operation, ensure you've set the 1 Pr and  CArd settings in the machine's configuration
