Configuring the LaundryCat App

Configuring the LaundryCat App

LaundryCat is the mobile app that allows your customers to interact with the machines in your store, using their phone as a virtual laundry card, as opposed to needing a physical laundry card to start machines.

If you've signed up to enable the LaundryCat App to work in a store location, you will want to configure it's settings for how it should function for the customers using it in your store.

To do this, you'll use the Mobile App Configuration menu found under the Management Tools section of the main LaundroPortal page:
Notes
If you're not seeing the Mobile App Configuration option under your LaundroPortal's Management Tools section, and you have the LaundryCat enabled for the location, contact the Laundroworks support team to get this section enabled for your account.

Configuration Source

Any configuration changes you make should be done from the Location Configuration tab (NOT the Global Configuration tab). In most cases, you will not be able to make any changes to the Global Configuration.

In almost all cases, each store will be set to use the "Specify Specific Configuration" option. This allows you to have different configuration settings for each individual store location.

This setting will be pre-configured for you and should NOT be adjusted from it's pre-configured configuration source. Even if you only have 1 store location, it will likely be configured to use the "Specify Specific Configuration" option.

LaundryCat App Options

These options generally affect what type of information is displayed on the LaundryCat App.

Availability Tab

This option dictates if the Availability Tab will be shown at the bottom of the App itself:

This section will show your customers which machines are currently available in the store vs which machines are currently in use.
If this option is disabled, customers will only see the My Cycles tab at the bottom of the App's homescreen.

Display Machine Group Names

When selected, on the Availability and My Cycle tabs of the Main Screen, the machines will show the same custom machine group names that have been assigned to them via the LaundroPortal's Manage Groups page:

If unchecked, the LaundryCat App will only show the Washer/Dryer numbers

Promotions Screen

When selected, this allows customers to access the Promotions Screen of the App through the Promotions option of the Navigation Menu on the Main Screen:

Services Screen

When selected, this allows customers to access the Services Screen of the App through the Services option of the Navigation Menu on the Main Screen.

Main Screen Alert

Disabled by default; enabing this option allows you to display a message on the homescreen of the App. The message will appear in the lanuage the customer's device uses by default:

Provider Information

Provider Name: how your Business/Location will be referred to throughout the App, such as on
the Support Screen:

App Logo: the logo shown for your Business/Location on the Main Screen and Services Screen
of the App.
Notes
Note that displaying a custom Logo must currently requested from Laundroworks in order for it to be applied to the App.
By default the “LaundryCat” logo will be shown, but you can email an alternate logo you wish to use to our support team

Account Restrictions

These settings affect various account level restriction settings for all LaundryCat App accounts.

Max Balance

This dictates the Maximum Balance a user may purchase up to. This is the total amount of value that can be loaded onto a LaundryCat App account and it is common practice (but not a requirement) to set this to the Maximum amount Laundry Card customers can load onto a physical Laundry Card (the default is $200).

Global Dryer Restriction: Washer Maximum Hours since Last Use

The default value is "0" which means customers are not restricted by Washer usage; they are able to start a Dryer at any point using the App.
If this setting is changed to any other number, that will enforce a maximum amount of hours their App account will be allowed to start a Dryer in the store after they've started a Washer in the store.
So for example, if you set this setting to 3, customer will only be able to start a Dryer in the store, if they've already started a Washer in the store within the last 3 hours.

Free Balance Expiry Hours

The default value is "0" which means, if you are running the Free Dry Promotion, customer's free dry balance will never expire.
If this setting is changed to any other number, that will dicate the maximum amount of hours before any unused accumulated free dry balance will expire. Once expired, any unused Free Dry Balance will reset back to zero.

Last Use Type assessed for Recent Activity

The default value is "Any", and this setting only affects store's that have a Door Access card reader installed.
If your store has any Door Access card readers, these readers have restriction settings that allow the reader to only grant access if a Laundry Card/App account has been used in the store within a certain amount of hours.
This setting can be used to adjust what type of machines count towards the LaundryCat App account being considered "Last Used" in the store.

VAC Payment Details

This setting is pre-configured to enable the LaundryCat App's Cash-At-Kiosk loading feature, if your VAC has the necessary hardware to support it.
This allows your customers to be able to load Cash at the kiosk in order to add funds to their LaundryCat App account:

You can un-check this option if you do NOT want to allow customers to use the Cash-At-Kiosk loading feature in your store.
Notes
If this option was pre-configured to be disabled, it's likely because your VAC doesn't have the necessary hardware to support this feature. Contact our support team to confirm if you need updated hardware before enabling this option

Merchant Payment Details

Allow payments through Merchant Account

This setting is enabled by default as it is the primary method your customers will use to add funds to their LaundryCat App account. This allows in-App credit card purchases (including ApplePay & GooglePay) to be used to fund a LaundryCat App account. These purchases will be processed by the Stripe Merchant account you've configured for the LaundryCat App's credit card payments.

When enabled the Credit Card tab will be available on the Add Funds Screen:

Notes
Availability of this feature is dependent on an appropriate Stripe Merchant Account being set up for the App for the specific store location it's being used in.

Allow cent amounts in custom payments

This is enabled by default and allows Cent Values to be specified by users when choosing the Custom amount option for Credit-Card payments on the Credit Card tab on the Add Funds Screen.
When enabled, this allows customers to make purchases for “$10.25” for example, as opposed to being limited to whole dollar values like “$10.00” or “$11.00”.

Enable Address Verification Service (AVS)

This is enabled by default and adds an email verification security measure to limit the use of possible fradulent/stolen credit cards. It is recommend to keep this setting enabled.

This security measure requires users to enter Address Billing Information when directly registering Credit Cards as Payment Methods within the app (ApplePay & GooglePay do not enter Billing Address information within the app).
It is strongly recommended to keep this security service enabled to avoid potential fraudulent Credit Card use.

Enable Payment Security Distance Checks

This option is disabled by default, but can be enabled if you'd like to configure distance checks on the addresses of any credit card being used to fund a LaundryCat App account.

This enforces that ONLY payments from registered Credit-Cards that are within "X" km Distance from Address Y (ApplePay & GooglePay are not affected by this).
Consider configuring this security option to better avoid potential fraudulent Credit Card use.

Enable Payment Security Transaction Checks

This option is disabled by default, but can be enabled if you'd like to configure additonal transaction restrictions related to number of transactions and credit cards used by customers who use the LaundryCat App.
The App will reject payments from users once they have exceeded the configured risk thresholds;
where within "W" Last Number of Days, the user has either:
  1. exceeded "X" Maximum Number of Different Credit-Cards Allowed
  2. exceeded "Y" Maximum Number of Declines Allowed
  3. exceeded "Z" Maximum Total Amount of Purchases
If enabled, it is recommended you enable this with at least the default settings to better avoid potential fraudulent Credit Card use.

Enable Payment Security Risk Score Notifications

This option is disabled by default, by can be enabled if you wish to receive email notifications for Transactions deemed to be above a given % Risk Threshold.
Notes
Note this requires that you have a Support Contact - Email configured
See the Support Contact section below

Payments Alert

Disabled by default; enabing this option allows you to display a message on the Credit Card funding screen of the App. The message will appear in the lanuage the customer's device uses by default:
Idea
Creating a Payment Alert can be useful in the case where you've changed the Merchant Account being used to process LaundryCat App credit card payments, as changing the active Merchant Account will force all customers to re-enter their credit card payment details into the App

Merchant Account

This section shows details on the specific Merchant Account currently being used by the LaundryCat App to process the Apps in-app credit card purchases. This should only be used for informational purposes; any changes to the active merchant account should be made through the LaundroPortal's Payment Processing section.

Accepted Payment Methods

In this section, you can configure which specific types of credit cards can be used with the App, as well as set the 4 pre-set value buttons that will appear on the Credit Card funding tab:

The Amount Presets you configure should always be listed in ascending order, and they have 2 functions:
  1. They dictate the preset values present for each of the 4 preset buttons
  2. The lowest preset amount dictates the minimum credit card purchase amount

Surcharge

By default, credit card surcharges are disabled, but can be enabled to have the LaundryCat App automatically charge a surcharge whenever processing a credit card transaction.
This can be configured to be a flat rate, or a perchange of the total purchase. You can also decide to set a threshold so that surcharges are only applied to purchases below a certain threshold amount:

Percentage/Flat Rate

Depending on your selected surcharge configuration, this option will either be displayed as "Percentage" or "Flat Rate" and is what the App will use when decided how much of a surcharge to apply to an in-App credit card purchase.

Verbiage

By default, the surchage verbiage is displayed as "A surchage of #.#% will be applied to the purchase", but you can dictate an alternate surchage message by overriding this setting:
