Overview
The system is comprised of card readers and one or two Value Add Center (VAC) kiosks.
The readers are wirelessly networked to VAC01, which contains the wireless gateway for the reader.
The wireless technology uses proprietary protocols and is built-into the system, requiring no extra components or any configuration, enabling a plug-and-play installation.
The order of installation makes no difference.
However, when you're activating the readers, using the Activation card (read below), it is recommended that you have the primary VAC (which should be labeled VAC01) power-up and connected to the internet.
If installing a VAC equipped with a touch screen, you can find out which is VAC01 by powering the VAC on and placing a Property Management Card in the VAC's card holder.
The VAC will present you with a Management Login screen, and in the top left hand corner, you will find the VAC## as well as the Support ID and Location ID:
Value Add Centers (VAC) Installation
Just mount the VAC kiosk, and provide it with power and internet.
Rear-opening VACs might be shipped with mounting brackets attached to the inside of the cabinet, this is only for shipment purposes.
For drawings and dimensions, see here:
Drawings and DimensionsIn general, the VACs you'll receive will already be pre-configured for the location they're being installed in.
Aside from connecting them to Power and Internet, the only other things you'd need to do to get the VACs fully setup, is to load up the card dispenser with laundry cards, and
install the receipt paper into the VAC's receipt printer (if equipped)
Power
Inside the VAC there is a power strip which powers all the VAC's electronics.
If the AC cord from this power strip does not reach your outlet, use an extension cord. Do not modify anything inside the VAC.
Power requirements for the VAC are usually posted on a sticker that'll be found on the inside of the VAC cabinet:
Internet
Each VAC requires wired internet (ethernet) from local internet equipment such as a modem, router, or switch.
You will need to supply your own ethernet cable to provide internet to the VACs from your internet equipment.
The recommended internet setup is: Modem -> Router -> VAC(s); however in many cases you can also hook up the VAC(s) directly to the internet Modem, or use a network switch if you need split the internet source in order to provide internet to more than 1 VAC.
The recommended min internet speed is 10Mbps.
The VACs require Dynamic IP (DHCP); do NOT use a Static IP for the VAC kiosks.
The Internet port on the VAC control board will be labelled "LAN".
Credit Card Terminal Activation and VAC board connection
As of June 2025, in most cases, the Credit Card terminals are usually pre-installed in the VACs before their shipped.
However, in some cases, the Credit Card terminals are shipped to the customer separately, and will need to be installed in the VACs onsite.
The PINpad terminal's ethernet cable needs to be plugged into the ethernet port on, the VAC control board, labelled "AUX1"
The PINpad terminal's only require 2 cables to be fully connected/installed:
1) the PINpad's Power cable for the PINpad (usually a USB cable that plugs into a phone charger style power brick)
2) the PINpad's Ethernet cable usually a short blue ethernet cable (which is usually pre-installed in the VAC) that connects the PINpads ethernet port to the VAC's AUX1 port.
All other cables on the PINpad's harness (if present) are not used in our system at all.
In most cases, once the VAC is connected to internet, the PINpad terminal will also connect to internet (through the VACs internet connection) and will download the payment software automatically (this usually happens within 20 mins of the VACs being connected to the internet).
Depending on the PINpad terminal installed on the VAC kiosk, confirming that the PINpad terminal is ready to accept credit/debit card payments will differ.
For instructions specific to the PINpad terminal model equipped with your VAC kiosks,
you can follow the links below for the specific model PINpad terminal you received:
Readers Installation
For card reader installation on the machines, review the specific machine control article from our
Reader Support section
In summary, the general steps are:
1. Set the DIP switch on the back of every reader to give that reader a unique address (e.g. Washer #4 or Dryer #43).
2. Mount the reader to the machine and connect it's wiring harness based on our installation article for that specific machine.
3. Configure the laundry machine itself for serial card reader communication mode (if applicable - see reader installation instructions for your specific machine)
4. Apply the provided
Activation card to
activate the card reader to this specific store 5. On most machines, you
set the vend prices of the reader through the LaundroPortal.
See our article on
Setting Vend Prices for more information.
On some machines, the card reader's get it's vend prices directly from the machine itself, this will be noted in the specific reader installation instructions for the type of machine you are installing.
Our card readers do NOT affect cycle times;
so set the desired drying time/wash cycle time, on the actual machine itself.
To test the card reader's once they've been installed and activated, you can use one of the
Property Management Cards to start the machine:
This card will start any machine for free, so you don't need to worry about adding value onto this card in order to run your tests.

When contacting us, please provide the Support ID for the store or account.
The support ID should have been sent through e-mail, but it is also shown on the LaundroPortal, the Value Add Center's display when it is booting up, or when a Management Card is placed into the VAC card holder (on touch screen equipped VACs only).
Support ID can be found when logged into the Laundro Portal:
Support ID will be shown on a VACs equipped with a touch screen, when a management card is placed in the VAC card holder:
